@natgeotravel, Photo by @MartinEdstrom | While exploring Greenland, the Aurora Arktika anchors in a calm fjord beside icebergs its own size. To explore the fjords and hidden islands of Eastern Greenland, you have to get your timing right. All of the eastern side is covered in a band of ice for most of the year. Only during a few months in summer does the ice recede enough for a boat to get through–meaning that the few people who live here are shut off from the world more often than not.

This was truly an amazing journey in my life, in what is definitely the most beautiful country in the world.

The Moonlit deck that slowly rose and fell before me, the silence and the restless waves and clouds, and the solemn circle of the horizon - everything gave me the nice, exciting feeling of being terribly important and terribly small at the same time (perhaps, however, more of the former) [Tove Jansson, Moominpappa´s Memoirs] 📷 @gregorypeterj
Midnight at Folafótur in Ísafjarðardjúp. Aurora sitting quietly at anchor and the kayaks waiting for another wonderful day of paddling.
Aurora from a bit unusual “angle”... “Here’s a sweet @insta360 camera shot from the boat last week! Hopefully I’ll have some time in a couple weeks to go through the video and make an edit from Iceland (and Japan too). I’m way behind since work travel and @thegrandtraverse training is taking up lots of my time. #360photography #tinyplanet #sailing #iceland #westfjords #insta360onex #travel. “ @royman0
